- Standard
Hi! I'm Nicole, and I am an experienced science, math, and standardized test prep tutor with expertise in chemistry. Currently I am pursuing my PhD in chemistry at New York University (NYU), where I am also a chemistry teaching assistant. Before that, I taught high school chemistry in the Miami-Dade public school system. Throughout my time as an undergraduate at Fordham University, I was a tutor and teaching assistant within the chemistry department, and I also worked with other programs to tutor students in subjects outside of chemistry, from calculus to history. In addition to my current work as a PhD student, I create content for Numerade, a platform used to support student learning through guided videos that answer challenging questions. I have also worked with Thinking Caps, an independent tutoring group that specializes in standardized test preparation such as for the ISEE (independent state entrance examination) for NY state.
Chemistry can be a difficult and frustrating subject - thankfully, I have lots of practice in helping students break down the concepts and understand patterns. I love chemistry mainly because I found it so overwhelming at first, but my teacher was good at explaining it and it made sense ... this is why I am studying at the graduate level with an ultimate goal of teaching chemistry full time. If you're someone who struggles with understanding chemistry, I would love to work with you to make it easier to grasp and perhaps even help you come to enjoy the subject!
